The 26-year-old won her medal on the 4th August, to the delight of one of the largest British TV audiences from across the Olympic period.
Local bands will begin celebrations at Baker’s Pool in the city from 4pm, and Ms Ennis is expected to appear sometime after 6:30.
People in the city have been asked to wear gold in celebration, while decorations in that colour will be hung from lampposts and trees. Nearby Balm Green will be transformed into a running track where young people can try out various events from the heptathlon, with Sheffield’s Lord Mayor, John Campbell, will officially welcome Ennis to the outdoor stage.
Mr Campbell said, "Jessica is a true superstar and we want to give her a massive Sheffield welcome home. She has done her home city proud. She is such a great ambassador for Sheffield and we are so proud of her so let's all come together to celebrate her achievement.
"She has risen to the occasion and now is the time for the city to rise to her."
