Government borrowing falls for third month

Official figures show that the government borrowed less in November than it did that time last year.

The Office for National Statistics said that public sector net borrowing, excluding financial interventions, was at £18.1 billion, which is down from £20.4 billion in November of last year.

November is the third month in a row that public borrowing had fallen.

The ONS stated that tax revenues were 5% higher in the month, due to the effects of inflation and VAT.
