Exploring your dreams for meaning

I don’t know about you, but I have always been fascinated by dreams.

The entire idea of experiencing temporary paralysis while we lose consciousness for hours on end to escape into our complicated inner world, seems like such a contradiction for survival of our species.   And yet none of us would survive long without this lovely escape into unconsciousness, where we experience our strange, crazy and sometimes amazingly revealing dreams.

I would like to call your attention to an excellent new book on what our dreams mean.  In  Into Your Dreams: Decipher Your Unique Dream Symbology to Transform Your Waking Life, Dr. Janece O. Hudson offers her audience a one-of-a-kind guide and interactive workbook to assist you in interpreting and working with your own dreams.

I like her straight-forward chapter titles like: “What are dreams?” where she explores the history of dream research.   The next five chapters are devoted to dream categories like:  people, body parts, flora, fauna, settings, objects, transportation, actions and activities.   Then she helps the reader identify the main purpose of her dream according to the dream hierarchy of physiological, safety, belonging, esteem and self-actualization.   The final 100+ pages of this book is an easy-to-use alphabetical dream symbol guide where you can look up topics like “monsters” or “hotel room” to see a quick interpretation of its meaning in your dream.

Thank you Dr. Hudson for this comprehensive and concise guide to dreams, and sweet dreams everyone!
