Top Tips for that Inevitable Indoor BBQ

by Alice White

We offer top tips on how to enjoy a Great British BBQ in your kitchen (because you just can't rely on the sun!)

It’s one of the highlights of a Great British summer, but with the weather threatening to be more washout than heatwave this year, the traditional barbie season is coming under threat.

And a poll by kitchen retailer Betta Living reveals that 96% of us have had a BBQ party rained off and that 78% of us always opt to still sizzle our sausages in the kitchen rather than cancelling our plans and dishing up a different delicacy.

So Betta Living has devised some top tips for the perfect indoor BBQ – come rain or rain!

  • Make sure you "char" (burn) your sausages under the grill or frying pan to give that authentic BBQ taste and look
  • Open all doors and windows to create an 'alfresco feel' - even if you're a bit chilly
  • Buy a green rug that you can bring out just when you want to recreate that outdoor look inside
  • Use plastic plates, cutlery and glasses not your usual indoor crockery or best china
  • Bring outdoor games in – why spoil your fun when you can quite easily have a little knock around with a football indoors!
  • Bring your garden furniture indoors and then it's also on hand for a quick dash back outside if the rain suddenly stops
  • Make sure you’re ipod is ready to go. Good music is the most important ingredient to any party - indoors or out
  • Invest in an indoor BBQ or grill - such as this Baumatic BBQ grill available from Betta Living for £352.
